China’s BYD to Begin Selling Electric Car Next Month in China

In an interview, BYD Co. Chairman Wang Chuanfu said the car, known as the F3DM, will be on sale in China by the end of November, pending government approval. Mr. Wang declined to provide a sales target or price range for the new electric car but said in Beijing earlier this year that the vehicle could carry a price tag of about 150,000 yuan ($22,000) and is capable of going as far as 110 kilometers on electricity when fully charged.

India: Ajanta Group working on e-car (Oreva)


The Ajanta Group, which already sells electric scooters in India under the Oreva brand, claims it will soon launch its electric car in the country. Though technical details are not available at this time, Rakesh Nathwani, Oreva’s national marketing head, claims that the car will be able to run 200-250km on one full battery charge.

Electric cars offer glimpse of different automotive future

While Taiwan may not be renowned for its achievements in the automotive industry, locally listed Pihsiang Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.–one of the world’s three largest manufacturers of mobility scooters and power wheelchairs–appears set to change all that.
