USA: SF BayLEAFs Gathering #14 June 9th, Union City (H.M.Clearfield)

SF BayLEAFs Gathering #14 will be June 9th in Union City at 8:45 AM. This will be our first “regular” meeting in 3 months (with the joint EAA meetings and Hybrids2HotRods in between), and there has been lots of activity to cover. Our special guest speaker is Karen Schkolnick, from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. She’ll be discussing the state of charging in the Bay Area, and the BAAQMD’s programs for developing charging infrastructure. There will be a generous Q&A period following the presentation. As well, the BayLEAFs are doing more in 2012 and these activities will be reviewed. And then, there’s the always popular horn upgrade clinic, which will take place in the parking lot (and will Electric4Me be doing a trailer hitch installation? Come and find out!). The venue, Union City Library, has a small meeting room but lots of shade in the parking lot. Here are the details: More...

Europe: Volvo Takes Orders in Europe for V60 Diesel Plug-in Hybrid

No Ford hybrid has ever been sold in Europe, and the Lexus HS isn’t available either. But here’s one hybrid Americans won’t be driving: the Volvo V60 diesel plug-in hybrid. All German brands sell diesels in America, and there’s no reason why Volvo shouldn’t either. Europeans see it as the best of both worlds: the most fuel-efficient ICE, and a green plug-in hybrid.
