> Aspiring Tesla competitor Lucid Motors
plans to offer a less-expensive version of its flagship luxury electric sedan, the company announced Wednesday.
>
> But even the new “base” version of the Lucid Air
won’t come cheap.

> The car will start at $60,000, before state and federal financial incentives are factored in. That’s at least $40,000 less than the standard version of the Air, which Lucid expects to price above $100,000.
>
> In exchange for the discount, buyers will get a car with shorter range than the standard Air. But the base Air’s battery pack will still be able to drive 240 miles on a full charge, according to the company. The standard Lucid Air will go more than 300 miles on a charge, and an optional battery pack upgrade will provide up to 400 miles of range.
