Multi-standard DC fast charging station given nod for enabling more drivers, more miles.

ECN Magazine awarded ABB the 2014 IMPACT Award for Green Technology for their Terra 53 multi-standard fast charger, a product that meets both SAE Combo and CHAdeMO standards for battery electric vehicles.

With its 15 to 30 minute charging time, the 50 kW Terra 53 is suited for highway and city centers, fueling stations, fleets, and other infrastructure providers interested in tapping into the growing EV charging revenue stream. The UL-rated Terra 53 is part of ABB’s portfolio of DC charging stations that offer fast charging times with industry leading, business-to-business network solutions. The charger’s smart connectivity also allows remote monitoring, pro-active maintenance and functional upgrades, providing charging service providers with the tools necessary to gather detailed usage statistics and reports, as well as manage the status of each charger location in real-time.

ABB has led the fast charging market with multi-standard charging equipment, and infrastructure roll outs in North America, China and several nation-wide networks across Europe. The title was awarded to ABB at the ECN Awards in Las Vegas in May. The IMPACT Awards recognizes outstanding achievements in electronics design engineering.
