Salt Lake City unveils new fast-charge stations for electric vehicles

Salt Lake City is opening two new “fast-charge” stations near The Leonardo museum that will allow owners to charge most electric vehicles in less than an hour.

The new 480-volt stations, donated by Nissan and installed using funds from the state Office of Energy Development and the Utah Clean Air Partnership, are among the first of their kind in Utah. Located at 255 E. 500 South, they also add to the capital city’s charging station array at five existing charging stations.

Existing stations recently were upgraded to higher voltage units, which should allow users to recharge their vehicles in about one third the time.
