Vancity investment adviser Pat Shellard uses one of his employer’s three charging stations to plug in his electric car at work.

“I can park there for free; I can charge for free; and I have a reserved spot which a lot of people at head office don’t have,” he says.

The charging station is one of many incentives to green commuting that Vancity offers its employees.

A poll released this month found that 76 per cent of Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island residents who drive to work would be more likely to carpool, use transit or cycle if their employer offered incentives.
