POCATELLO — When veterinarian Walter Rowntree slides behind the wheel of his high-performance luxury sedan and pushes the start button, there is no rumble from the 362 horsepower motor that rockets the four-door vehicle from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds.

There’s also no exhaust, no transmission and no gasoline station stops involved.

Rowntree drives a 2014 Tesla Model S and it’s all electric. He is driving the first Tesla sold in Eastern Idaho and says there are three in Boise.

“We just absolutely love driving the electric,” Rowntree said.
