European electric vehicle charging project gathers pace

The UK’s TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) is to take part in a new European Commission project that aims to address the technological feasibility, economic viability and socio-environmental effects of on-road electric vehicle charging facilities.

Known as FABRIC (FeAsiBility analysis and development of on-Road chargIng solutions for future electric vehiCles), the project will focus primarily on dynamic wireless charging and its impact on the increased adoption of electric vehicles.

TRL, which says it’s the only UK-based organisation involved in the initiative, is leading sub-project 3 and will be assessing wireless and contact charging solutions from a technological point of view.
