St. Augustine is about to become a top destination for a new demographic: Owners of the Tesla Model S.
The fully electric sports car has garnered a lot of attention since it was launched, and it will now be turning heads in St. Augustine, thanks to a new supercharging station.
In an effort to make the north-south corridor of Florida navigable with the vehicle’s range of 265 miles, Tesla chose the Premium Outlets Mall off State Road 16 for its North Florida supercharging station.
Drivers can get half a charge in 20 minutes, which is enough to reach the next charging station in Port Orange. For those headed north, a full charge will easily get them to the state in Savannah, Ga., which is less than 200 miles away.
“We’re putting them along a well-traveled corridor in Florida,” said Alexis Georgeson with Tesla communications. “St. Augustine is a great town for people to stop in.”
