Tesla Motors making its way to Northeast Ohio via a Macedonia charging station

MACEDONIA, Ohio – The wave of the future is moving closer to NE Ohio. Those with the auto maker, Tesla, are planning to unveil a Supercharger station in the Northeast Ohio region on Thursday.

The City of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio-area already have a few charging stations for those more mainstream electric vehicles you’ve probably seen on the road plenty of times, like smart cars and the Chevy Volts.

The less mainstream Tesla Motors does not own any stores north of Columbus but the car maker is still planning to open the Supercharger station at the Macedonia Commons Shopping Center right off of Interstate 271. A member of the Tesla Motors team told NewsChannel5 via email the new Macedonia location is part of their cross-country route that will enable free travel from LA to New York City.

Patrick Jones said in the email, “You will not find Supercharges in city centers because Model S drivers get 265 miles of range on a full charge. They won’t need to use these Supercharges for daily commuting purposes.”
