Time to test drive an electric car — MMM Ceo

KUCHING: The Mitsubishi e-Heroes programme will see the Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle (i-MiEV) available for the public to test drive at Petrosains Dino Trek 2, Sarawak Museum from Dec 10 to Jan 7, 2014.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) launched the programme at Sarawak Museum here yesterday.

“This programme offers electric car fun rides to kids to promote awareness on ways they can play a part to create an eco-friendlier future,” said MMM chief executive officer (CEO) Tetsuya Oda before the launch.

He said e-Heroes encompassed all electric, energy, environment and earth aspects.

“We started the educational programme back in Kuala Lumpur in August 2012. Since then it has travelled to Terengganu, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu,” he revealed.

Oda said since its launch, the programme had benefitted close to 70,000 young Malaysians.

MMM yesterday brought in their most advanced creations for the educational programme in the form of the i-MiEV. It is a fully electric, zero emission vehicle which is environment-friendly thus makes for cleaner, safer and more efficient driving.

Oda revealed that MMM had begun the sales of i-MiEV to the Malaysian public.

He said the 100 per cent electric car is surprisingly powerful to give a smooth quiet ride.

“i-MiEV is definitely redefining the world’s drive,” he commented.
