Delta continues its expansion with supply of vehicle chargers to Malaysia

Delta Electronics Inc (台達電), the nation’s top power supply maker, said on Friday that it had started supplying wall-mounted AC electric vehicle chargers in Malaysia as part of the company’s effort to expand its share of the global electric vehicle market.

Delta has targeted the country’s largest motor vehicle distributor, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad, to gain access to the Malaysian market.

First Energy Networks Sdn Bhd (FEN), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tan Chong, will help market Delta’s new electric vehicle charger product, the company said.

“The Tan Chong Group is actively promoting electric vehicles, which is consistent with Delta’s mission ‘to provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow,’” Herman Chang (張育銘), general manager of Delta’s charging and microgrid solutions business unit, said in an e-mailed statement.

“Our cooperation with the Tan Chong Group will provide a convenient, quick and safe charging service for electric vehicle users in Malaysia,” he added.

Tan Chong is currently the exclusive distributor of Nissan Motor Co Ltd’s latest “Leaf” electric car in Malaysia, and Delta said its new wall-mounted AC electric vehicle charger has become standard equipment for the Japanese car.
