CT Political Leaders Recognize Growth of Newington Electric Company and CT Electric Car

Newington, CT – Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Dan Esty joined state political leaders to celebrate the expansion of Newington Electric Company and its subsidiaries, CT Electric Car and CT Home Generator, to its new 12,000 square- foot location with an official ribbon cutting ceremony recently. The company’s corporate headquarters will be located at 72 Pane Road in Newington. Commissioner Esty, a proponent of the state’s Electric Vehicle (EV) initiative, arrived at the event in his own Chevy Volt, joining State Senator Paul Doyle, State Rep Tony Guerrera, Mayor of Newington Stephen Woods, State Rep Richard Lopes, and other local business leaders.

CT Electric Car is the state’s foremost installer of electric vehicle charging stations. The new EV charging station showroom, displaying all of the latest options in home charging systems, will encourage CT residents to consider purchasing an EV, thus preserving the local environment. The new corporate headquarters will also offer complimentary EV charging stations in the parking lot for EV owners who need a quick, free charge.

“Our expanded headquarters and showroom will allow us to continue working with the state toward our common objective of propelling Connecticut to become the first Electric Vehicle-friendly states in the nation. If drivers know they are always no more than 15 minutes from a charging station, they will be more likely to buy an EV” says Ed Ingalls, owner of CT Electric Car.

CT Electric Car has installed several municipal charging stations in high profile locations, including Blue Back Square’s parking garage and the Bishop’s Corner parking lot. The company hopes to expand the footprint of charging stations across the state.
