Equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, the four-seater achieves a combined consumption of 1.1 litre per 100 km.

Measuring just 3,540mm in length, 1,478mm height, and 1641mm in width, (wide side mirrors extended, the width is 1,910mm) and a wheelbase of 2,420mm, the Up makes an ideal city run-about. With the four wheels placed near the extremities of the car, the Up is very spacious inside despite its small size.

Powering the plug-in hybrid Up is a 800cc TDI (Diesel turbo injection) engine, electric motor and dual-clutch (DSG) with the world’s most economical car, the XL1. Whilst the TDI engine has an output of 55kW (75PS), an electric motor adds on another 35kW (48PS). The DSG transmission comes with 7 speeds. The power unit sits at the front with the power electronics for the hybrid system
