Car-maker Nissan has selected Airbiquity’s Choreo cloud-based connected car solution to power its NissanConnect app service, giving car drivers access to smartphone apps, cloud content and services.

The Airbiquity solution will be deployed in select Nissan cars worldwide beginning in September 2014. The first car to be outfitted with Airbiquity is the 2014 Nissan Altima sedan in North America. Regional rollouts will follow in 50 countries and 32 languages by the end of 2014.

According to David Jumpa, senior vice president, global sales and business development at Airbiquity, the company is managing the integration of the core services into the platform for Nissan. It is also working with many of the developers whose apps reside on the platform. Airbiquity’s solution integrates a driver’s smartphone apps and content into the vehicle’s display, switches and voice recognition system.
