Tesla Motors setting up charging station in Burlington :: Editor’s Blog at WRAL Tech Wire

Tesla power is coming to the Tar Heel state.
The California-based manufacturer of battery-powered vehicles will open its first “Supercharger” station in North Carolina on Thursday.
It will be located in the parking lot of the Carousel Luxury Cinemas at 1080 Piper Lane in Burlington along I-85 and include eight charging stalls.
Tesla already offers charging stations in 27 other states.
A charge takes some three hours. The charges are free.

According to the company, “Tesla Superchargers allow Model S owners to travel for free between cities along well-traveled highways in North America. The Tesla Supercharger is substantially more powerful than any charging technology to date, providing up to 120 kilowatts of power and replenishing half a charge in twenty minutes. Supercharger stations are strategically placed to allow owners to drive from station to station with minimal stops. Stations are located near amenities like roadside diners, cafes, and shopping centers so road trippers can stop for a quick meal and have their Model S charged by the time they’re done.”
