Jiangsu Xinri E-Vehicle Company Scores Highest in Navigant Research Assessment of Electric Scooter Manufacturers

A nascent market in most regions of the world, electric scooters sell in significant numbers in Asia Pacific today. Sales of e-scooters in China are expected to reach 9.4 million in 2013, compared to 2.6 million in all other countries combined. Click to tweet: According to a new Leaderboard report from Navigant Research, Jiangsu Xinri E-Vehicle Company is the best positioned company in the e-scooter market in terms of strategy and execution.

“The spread of e-scooters is being driven by the growing use of two-wheel vehicles for everyday transportation, as well as increasing urbanization and traffic congestion,” says Dave Hurst, principal research analyst with Navigant Research. “Companies that can compete effectively in multiple regions where these factors are having an impact have an advantage over their competitors.”

Jiangsu Xinri E-Vehicle is the only company that achieved Leader status in the Leaderboard report. The company has gained a competitive advantage in the large Chinese market, and is increasingly able to export its vehicles to most other regions, as well. Several companies, including Vmoto, SYM, Terra Motors, and Vectrix, are ranked as Contenders.

The report, “Navigant Research Leaderboard Report: Electric Scooters”, examines the strategy and execution of 12 e-scooter vendors that are active in the global market and rates each vendor on 12 criteria. These include: vision, go-to-market strategy, partners, product and production strategy, technology, geographic reach, market share, sales and marketing, product quality and reliability, product features, pricing, and staying power. Using Navigant Research’s proprietary Leaderboard methodology, vendors are profiled, rated, and ranked with the goal of providing industry participants with an objective assessment of these companies’ relative strengths and weaknesses in the global e-scooter market.
