Georgia Capitol welcomes electric vehicle charging stations

Georgia is doing its part to promote electric cars.

Gov. Nathan Deal and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle turned out Wednesday to help dedicate two new electric vehicle charging stations in a state parking lot across from the Georgia Capitol.

The Georgia Building Authority partnered on the project with California-based Chargepoint, a network of independently owned electric vehicle charging stations that entered the Atlanta market last winter.

“As a state, we really have made great strides focused on sustainability,” said Cagle, who owns a Nissan Leaf. “We’re seeing tremendous growth in this marketplace.”
