Rollout of retail charging stations aims to spur use of electric vehicles

A new electric vehicle charging station was unveiled at a western New York retail store Wednesday. It is hoped that greater accessibility to the stations will encourage more people to buy electric cars.

Officials from NYSERDA, ChargePoint. Tops Markets and National Grid along with State Senator Mike Ranzenhofer and Assemblyman Ray Walter welcome the new EV charging station.

Tops Markets in Williamsville is the first retail location in the region to offer electric vehicles charging. There are already charging stations located across Buffalo at the University at Buffalo’s south campus, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Chili’s Restaurant in Amherst, Buffalo State College’s Burchfield Penny Art Center, and Tonawanda. The unit brings the number of EV charging stations across the state to 500.
