Court rules in favor of cleaner fuel in California

Industry attempt to derail the Low Carbon Fuel Standard fails

SAN FRANCISCO (September 18, 2013) – The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today ruled in favor of a policy that advances the adoption of cleaner fuels in California’s marketplace. The Low Carbon Fuel Standard will reduce carbon pollution while providing Californians with cleaner alternatives to oil. These pollution reductions contribute to goals outlined in AB32, the nation’s premier climate change law, which aims to reduce California’s carbon pollution to 1990 levels by the year 2020.

Following is a statement from Senior Attorney, David Pettit:

“Today’s victory ensures Californians are given better, cleaner choices at the fuel pump, which is something everyone can support. This policy will spur American ingenuity to produce cleaner fuels with fewer impacts to our environment. The standard is working to reduce pollution while decreasing the state’s reliance on oil
“We’re already on track to achieve these goals, and today’s ruling reaffirms California as a national leader for common sense actions to curb climate change.”
