Oil workers set out to prove EVs can go the distance

Two intrepid explorers are setting out to prove that electric cars are a practical driving solution today, travelling 1,500 miles over the course of four days in a fully electric Nissan LEAF.

Chris and Ross (foreground) with Co-wheels Co-ordinator, Tony Archer as they prepare for their PlugIn AdventureEmbarking on a mission to travel from Aberdeen to London, then onto Cardiff and then back to Aberdeen, Ross Mackay 29 and Chris Ramsey 36-ironically both oil industry workers-hope their journey will dispel any myths about EVs and prove there is a future for both the electric vehicle and renewable energy industry.

Working with Aberdeen car club, Co-Wheels and the city’s council, the pair set off on their PlugIn Adventure journey this morning and plan to make a documentary of their journey to prove that the EV is suitable for long distance journeys. They will also raise money for Cancer Research along the way.

Co-Wheels has provided the LEAF, which will officially become part of the Co-Wheels fleet when the car returns.
