• Self-service Level 2 (240-volt) chargers will cost $1 per hour of charging

College Avenue might still be best for cruising, but the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is poised to become Northern Colorado’s newest automotive hot spot for the electric vehicle crowd.

Starting Aug. 13, owners of Nissan Leafs, Teslas and other electric vehicles will be able to charge up their autos at one of the region’s first municipal charging stations installed at the museum. Another station will be installed at the Civic Center parking garage at 144 N. Mason St., but the museum will offer an added perk — a quick-charge station that can significantly reduce charge times for supported cars.

The city will host a public ribbon cutting for the municipal chargers from 3-3:45 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Museum of Discovery, 408 Mason Court.
