USA: The Historic Joel Palmer House Restaurant Embraces New Technology By Adding Two Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

The historic, family-owned Joel Palmer House restaurant has recently added a valuable new amenity to help Electric Vehicle drivers experience Oregon Wine Country without worries about where to recharge. The two new Electic Vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Joel Palmer House restaurant will help eliminate ‘range anxiety’ for EV drivers visiting Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine country. The charging stations are located in two adjacent parking spaces behind the Joel Palmer House restaurant, right next to their culinary garden’s mushroom patch. The technology by SemaConnect, Inc. uses the industry-standard J1772 EV Connector and can also recharge Tesla Motors vehicles.

“As an EV enthusiast, I realized that EV drivers from Portland and Seattle wanted to be able to visit Oregon Wine Country but were apprehensive about the ability to recharge their vehicles while out in the valley,” says Chef/Owner Christopher Czarnecki. “I’m excited to be part of the solution to these concerns.”

The charging stations will be installed and ready for use by August 1, 2013. The cost to use the charging stations is free for dinner guests between the hours of 4:00pm and midnight, Tuesday through Saturday, and $1.00 per hour at all other times. They are open to the public.

In addition to other new EV Stations in the area and ODOT’s efforts to add more charging stations, the charging stations at the Joel Palmer House will enable EV drivers to experience Oregon’s wine country without worries about range limitations. For those travelers looking for a full wine country itinerary, Travel Oregon has also recently published a North Willamette Valley EV Itinerary that includes a stop at the Joel Palmer House.
