Four EV charging stations installed in Uptown Gig Harbor » Kitsap Sun Mobile

Four charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) are now operating in Uptown Gig Harbor.

The stations are located in four adjacent parking spaces behind Green House restaurant, according to Kristin Undem, Uptown’s tenant coordinator.

Uptown management has been working for several months to bring the stations to the shopping center, Undem said.

“They were installed on June 18 and customers have already discovered them,” she added.

The cost to use the charging stations is 50 cents per hour. “People can pay with a credit card or with a ChargePoint card,” Undem said.

ChargePoint is the largest online network of independently owned EV charging stations in the world, with more than 12,400 charging spots in 14 countries, according to the company’s website.

In addition to processing payments for EV charging services, ChargePoint also has online and mobile tools to locate, reserve and navigate to unoccupied charging stations through apps for smart phones.

The charging units themselves are provided by Charge Northwest, a Gig Harbor-based company.
