Ford Focus Electric to whirr into showroom | Herald Sun

FORD is introducing its Focus Electric to Europe around 18 months after the EV weighed into the US market as a rival to Nissan’s Leaf.

The five-door hatch is powered by an electric motor generating 145 horsepower and is mated to two, liquid-cooled lithium-ion batteries.

The car uses a single speed transmission and front-wheel-drive.

The Focus battery has 23 kWh of juice on hand.

Top speed is quoted as 137 km/h with range at 160 km and useful acceleration of zero to 100 km/h in 11.4 seconds.

Discreet “Electric” badges reveal the motive power.
