Electric Car Convention Returns To Cape Girardeau

Brian Noto shows what’s going on under the hood of a replica 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster in EVTV’s Cape Girardeau, Mo., garage. The car runs on lithium iron phosphate batteries.

Cape Girardeau will be abuzz with electric cars again this year for the third annual Electric Car Conversion Convention. This year’s convention will be Aug. 6 through Aug. 11 at the A.C. Brase Arena Building.

The convention is an outgrowth of the EVTV web series by Jack Rickard and Brian Noto. The web show is filmed in Cape Girardeau and teaches people the step-by-step process of how to convert their standard engine into an all electric machine.

Brian Noto said the convention will be an international affair.

“We’re bringing in people from all over the world. We’ve got people coming in from Portugal, Holland, Australia, New Zealand- I believe Mexico, Canada- plus a lot of the United States,” Noto said. “Twenty to thirty states are represented.”

According to Noto, some of this year’s presenters will include EVTV viewers who have completed their own successful electric car conversions.
