Electric car charging station coming to SWFL

Some electric car owners in Southwest Florida have a new way to fill up. Construction is underway on a Tesla Supercharger station at Gulf Coast Town Center. Tesla owners will be able to charge their car batteries quickly and for free.

The charging station is the first in the state of Florida, but Tesla is planning more along busy highways, to ultimately create a national network of stations that drivers can use to recharge on long road trips.

“In order to go to Orlando and back in the same day, I would probably have to wait three to four hours to get enough charge for the return trip,” said Tesla owner Bill Eshbaugh of Bonita Springs. “With Superchargers, I can charge in 20 minutes or so, to come home easily. So it’ll shorten the charge time and make this car more practical for long-range trips.”
