USA: City to host conference on electric vehicles

INDIANAPOLIS – A day after announcing that the country’s largest electric car sharing program would come to Indianapolis, the city revealed that it would host a national conference on electric drive technologies.

The Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) chose Indianapolis as the host city for its three-day Conference & Annual Meeting. The event is expected to draw about 1,200 people from across the U.S. The conference will have a projected $1 million economic impact on Central Indiana.

Since 2008, the group has held the annual conference in Washington, DC.

The EDTA is the U.S. industry association dedicated to advocating electric cars and other electric vehicles. The group promotes the sustainable commercialization of electric drive technologies through education, industry networking and public policy advocacy. According to the group, if 60 percent of U.S. light-duty vehicles were on the electric grid, greenhouse gas emissions from transportation would be cut by a third.
