Tesla Motors electric car charging station coming to Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The first supercharging station for electric vehicles on the Treasure Coast will come to the city by the end of the year, according to Port St. Lucie city officials.

Tesla Motors is expected to build eight supercharging connections at the proposed location of Town Center at St. Lucie West, off Peacock Boulevard.

Mayor Joann Faiella said, during a press conference at City Hall, that the business would not cost taxpayers any money, and she hoped it would promote the city’s “green” image.

“We are always conscious about being environmentally safe, with clean energy,” said Faiella. “This is great for (preventing) pollution. If you look at these cars, there’s no oil change, no smoke coming out of the exhaust, you just plug in and go.”
