Auto Talk: Electric vehicle technology focus of workshop

Experts from around the world will gather in the new Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation at the University of Windsor later this week to discuss the latest developments in electric vehicle technology.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers will host an international workshop on electrified vehicle components and systems Thursday and Friday.

“Recent advancements in electric power train and energy storage design has created a great deal of momentum in the field, making an organized collaborative discussion a necessity for the academic community,” said Narayan Kar, a professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and one of the conference’s organizers.

Speakers on the agenda include Daniela Chrenko of the Institut Supérieur de l’Automobile et des Transports in France, who will speak about the development of hybrid and electric vehicles in Europe, Yi Zheng of Hebei University in China, who will speak about motor control for electrified vehicles, and Gholam-Abbas Nazri of Frontier Applied Sciences and Technologies, LLC., in the United States, who will speak about energy storage systems for electric-based transportation.
