Price War: Honda slashes lease rate on Fit electric

The all-electric 2013 Honda Fit EV will be cheaper to lease

by Chris Woodyard, USA TODAY

Honda is slashing the lease price of the electric version of its Fit small car in order to try to get a leg up in the price wars.

Now Fit will lease for $259 a month, down from $389 a month, over three years. Even though it has a list sales price of $36,625, the Fit has only been available through a lease.

With the price cut, Fit will still be outpriced by three electric cars that all go for $199 a month — Nissan Leaf, Fiat 500e and Chevrolet Spark EV. Honda contends that when other factors are taken into consideration, like only $259 due at signing, no mileage limit and collision coverage, it is actually cheaper than other leased EVs — with the exception of the 500e.
