GSA: Not 1 Million Plug In Cars, But Rather 10,000 Hybrids

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), in the specific role of taking care of the federal government’s fleet vehicles, is looking to make more of them green in order to cut its carbon footprint as well as save a ton of money on gas. It recently announced plans to greatly increase the number of hybrids being driven by government employees to help achieve this.

The GSA said it aims to replace aging vehicles with up to 10,000 hybrids, resulting in what is said to be a “reduction of approximately 1,000,000 gallons of fuel per year for the life of these vehicles.” No specific details were mentioned around which auto manufacturers these vehicles would be purchased from, though our bet is on Ford and its diverse hybrid line up for a majority of them.
