2013 Nissan Leaf gets mileage bump – Leftlane News

A shift in production from Japan to the United States has resulted in improved mileage for the 2013 Nissan Leaf.

The Environmental Protection Agency has given the U.S-built 2013 Nissan Leaf a combined rating of 115 MPGe. Last year’s model, which was built in Japan, was rated at 99 MPGe.

Although essentially the same model, Nissan was able to institute incremental changes in the 2013 Leaf when it made the production shift to the United States. Those changes added up to an official 16 MPGe improvement, although Nissan says the Leaf is capable of even loftier figures.

One of those tweaks for 2013 includes a new front fascia, which decreased the Leaf’s drag coefficient from 0.29 to 0.28. The 2013 Leaf also dropped 129 pounds, thanks in large to a new charging unit.]
