USA; Monday Newsmaker: New state senator has big goals

Ben Hueso was elected to the California Senate in March. Hueso represents the 40th Senate District, which includes the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach and Coronado, as well as a portion of San Diego, Imperial County and Riverside County.

Hueso chairs the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and serves on the Banking and Financial Institutions; Natural Resources and Water; Transportation and Housing; and Education committees. He is a member of the the Select Committee on California Mexico Cooperation.

Hueso served in the Assembly representing the 80th District from 2010 to 2013.

He has been as an ex-officio member of the California State Parks & Recreation Commission and a member of the California Wildlife Conservation Board’s Legislative Advisory Committee.
