State issues grants for charging stations | Westfair Communications

Several Westchester-based companies received grants as part of the Charge NY initiative to install electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state.

More than 360 electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid chargers will be installed throughout New York. The goal is to create 3,000 public and workplace charging stations over the next five years, and putting 40,000 plug-in vehicles on the road.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) awarded $3.6 million to 14 organizations including Purchase-based PepsiCo Inc., city of White Plains and Port Chester-based Sky View Ventures L.L.C.

PepsiCo received $350,000 to install 20 charging stations at distribution centers in Albany and Rochester. White Plains received $200,000 to install 10 charging stations at multifamily residences in the city. Sky View Ventures received $250,000 to install 20 charging stations at 10 hotels around New York.

Last June, NYSERDA spent $4.4 million to fund 325 charging stations. The state has proposed investing $50 million over the next five years in the Charge NY program.
