Mayor Steve Pougnet and other members of the City Council are expected to attend the 1 p.m. ribbon-cutting event behind City Hall near the Palm Springs Dog Park, where two of the charging stations are located, according to city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell.

The other upgraded stations are at the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership headquarters across from City Hall, Palm Springs International Airport, the Palm Springs Public Library and the city’s fleet fueling area. The stations are free and open to the public.

The upgrades were paid for with a $40,000 grant from the state’s ReConnect California Program, city officials said.
