USA: Fast Charger news and invitation (Vacaville)

Good Afternoon!

Although this EVent is a bit outside the Silicon Valley region, I’m passing it along the news for your information.

The news is that Mitsubishi is sponsoring a new DC Fast Charger in Vacaville, California. This site is a “Gateway” between the Sacramento and Bay Area metro regions.

The Sacramento and East Bay chapters of the Electric Auto Association see this as a ‘golden spike’ event for the region as this enables CHAdeMO-equipped EVs to complete the ~85 mile trip from the Bay Area to Sacramento without needing to worry about range, and with only a minimal delay at Vacaville while at the fast charger.

All EV’ers and their plug-in vehicles are welcome. We need a big turnout for this! Besides the Fast Charger, there are many J1772 level 2 charging stations both at this park-n-ride location, and another on the opposite side of the freeway.

However, we need i’s for the event, particularly because Mitsubishi is hosting the charger!

Can you reach out to folks you know that purchased i’s to see if they would like to attend this event? The vehicles can be with or without CHAdeMO ports, but hopefully at least one iMiev there will have one!

The Vacaville Fast DC charger is turned off until the ceremony starts on FRIDAY March 8th at 10AM. The ceremony itself with Mayor Steve Hardy will be no longer than 20 minutes. There will be representatives from the city of Vacaville (Mayor Steve Hardy), Mitsubishi Motors and CHAdeMO (David Patterson), ARB, PG&E and Eaton.

The invitation:

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new CHAdeMO DC Quick charger!

The ceremony itself with Mayor Steve Hardy will be no longer than 20 minutes. There will be representatives from the city of Vacaville (Mayor Steve Hardy), Mitsubishi Motors and CHAdeMO (David Patterson), ARB, PG&E and Eaton.

All EV’ers and interested parties are invited to this event. If you intend to go, I’d appreciate a reply so we have an idea of how many will attend this event.
