UK: Buy an electric car and get a charging point free

When the Renault ZOE electric car is released in the UK this June it will mark the first time that a car manufacturer will offer a free domestic charging point alongside a new electric car.

Renault will make a single wall-box, supplied and installed by British Gas, available to new customers and anyone who has pre-ordered the Renault ZOE (pictured).

As soon as customers place an order for the ZOE, British Gas will be informed and will then contact customers to arrange a time for a home survey and installation around a month before the car is delivered. It will then install a 32amp ZE ready single-wall box into motorists’ homes and have it fully operational well before the ZOE arrives for its first drive.

The charging point can be installed at any residential address in the UK as long as there is a GPRS signal. It comes with an attached lead so that drivers won’t have to search in the boot to find a cable to plug in: instead the cable is 4.5metres long, so even if you have off-street parking you should still be able to charge your ZOE with ease.
