LA transportation group taps two firms for comms support

LOS ANGELES: The Los Angeles County Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies, also known as LA SAFE, has selected two firms that will be eligible to provide communications support for its programs and services.

The state office hired Celtis Ventures and Frank Wilson & Associates after a competitive process for contracts that are task-order-based, meaning they will be contacted when their assistance is needed.

There is no incumbent for these contracts, which have a combined potential value of $345,000.

“These firms were picked as they provided a depth of knowledge and experience working in transportation and had a variety of directly relevant experience to meet the needs of LA SAFE,” a program officer with the state said.

The state will call on the firms to provide communications support for programs such as traffic information service Southern California 511, Metro Freeway Service Patrol, and Metro Freeway Beautification. In addition, LA SAFE is collaborating with mass transit operator LA Metro to develop a one call, one click solution for veterans to obtain a variety of transportation information. Like other programs, that effort will need communications support, the program officer said.
