The Lawrence Earth Day Celebration works every year to educate residents, businesses and surrounding communities regarding the importance of responsible environmental policies, raise awareness of each individual’s impact on the natural environment, and highlight actions each person can take to make Lawrence and Douglas County a more sustainable and eco-friendly place to live.

PARADE FOR THE EARTH
Saturday, April 20, 11:00 a.m.
The Parade for the Earth is hosted by KU Environs, and will go from Buford Watson Park to South Park along Massachusetts Street. Staging for the parade begins at 10 am.

If you would like to be a participant in the 2013 Earth Day Parade, please read the participation guidelines and then fill out the online parade registration form. Parade registration deadline is Monday, April 1st.

CELEBRATION IN SOUTH PARK
Saturday, April 20, 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
South Park at 11th & Massachusetts Street
Free Admission

The celebration in the park features live music, food, vendors and children’s activities. Attendees are invited to learn from exhibits about waste reduction, recycling, composting, alternative fuels and vehicles, energy conservation, land preservation, wildlife and habitat preservation, and more.

Water Festival Logo
April Showers to Water Towers: a Water Festival for Douglas County will also be held offering interactive, educational activities emphasizing the importance of clean water to families, the community and environment.

Transit Logo
The Lawrence Transit System will offer free rides on the T all day Saturday, April 20, providing the experience and benefits of public transportation on all fixed routes. Exhibitors
If you would like to be an exhibitor at the 2013 Earth Day Celebration, please read the exhibitor participation guidelines and then fill out the online exhibitor registration form. Please note that all requests for exhibit space are filled on a first come, first serve basis according to arrival of completed registration. Exhibitor registration deadline is Monday, April 1st.

Food Vendors
If you would like to be a food vendor at the 2013 Earth Day Celebration, please read the food vendor guidelines and then fill out the online application form. Please note that once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be added to the list of food vendor candidates. Space is not guaranteed and very limited, so submit your application early. There are no limitations on the type of food sold at Earth Day; however priority will be given to local restaurants/vendors, and those vendors selling vegetarian, organic, and locally grown items. Food Vendor application deadline is Monday, March 11th.
