REDLANDS: Sustainability Network to host festival at university

The Redlands Sustainability Network will present a Redlands Sustainability Festival in celebration of the city’s 125th anniversary.

The event is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 9, on the east library lawn around Lewis Hall – or in the Orton Center in case of rain – at the University of Redlands, 1200 E. Colton Ave.

The event is the first of its kind in the city and the network expects it to become an annual event. Its purpose is to motivate, educate and inspire public support for sustainable community ideals and practices.

Those ideals and practices include buying local, green, or ecologically friendly, industry initiatives and green building, sustainable energy and water use, access to outdoor recreation, local farming and food production, social health, health and wellness issues and efficient transportation.

A major goal of the network is to collaborate with other community organizations, groups and businesses to make the Redlands a model for sustainability.
