Report: Wireless charging to spark electric car surge

Wireless charging is set for a rapid expansion in plug-in vehicles: growing at a rate of 91 per cent from 2013 to 2020.

That’s the verdict of Pike Research, which suggests that as wireless systems move from being a retrofit technology to becoming an integrated part of electric vehicles, sales will expand to 283,000 by 2020.Wireless Electric Car Charging

According to Pike, wireless charging for plug-in vehicles initially appeared to be a promising technology with no viable market: but now nearly all major electric car manufacturers have announced partnerships with wireless charging system developers.
