Considering driving electric? Find out about it Saturday in San Juan

WearThe free workshop is presented by the nonprofit California Center for Sustainable Energy along with partners San Diego Gas & Electric and CleanTechOC. Lunch will be provided.

Colin Santulli, a PEV expert with the San Diego-based Center for Sustainable Energy, will outline financial and environmental benefits of PEVs and the available incentives for owning one. One of the incentives is the California Air Resources Board’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Project, which provides up to $2,500 for buying a qualifying new PEV.

The difference between PEVs and other electric vehicles is that they are at least partially powered by onboard batteries that charge from the electrical grid, rather than hybrids that have electrically assisted combustion engines. Some PEVs are all electric.
My of wild swings in gasoline prices and maybe thinking of going electric? You can find out more about plug-in electric vehicles and hear local owners discuss their everyday experiences with them during a presentation from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center, 25925 Camino del Avion.

You’ll also have a chance to test-drive an electric CODA and Chevrolet Volt.
