City installs six electric vehicle charging stations in Honolulu

Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle announced Tuesday that the city has installed six electric vehicle charging stations for public use in various parking facilities.

The charging stations can be found at the Neal Blaisdell Center, Chinatown Gateway Plaza, Civic Center, Hale Pauahi, Honolulu Zoo, and Smith-Beretania Parking Structure.

“Electric vehicles are an important part of our clean and sustainable energy future,” Mayor Carlisle said. “These stations will make it easier for people to start using electric vehicles and help decrease our dependence on fossil fuels.”

The charging stations use the ChargePoint network (, which allows users to hold a ChargePoint card over the reader symbol on the charging stations to start and stop charging.
