2013 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid to start from $39495

Now that the standard Fusion and Fusion Hybrid are in dealerships, Ford’s mid-size sedan lineup is a single model away from completion – only the Fusion Energi has yet to launch. However, the blue oval has just released pricing information for the Energi, signaling that the plug-in hybrid’s on-sale date is near.

The Fusion Energi will start from $39,495 for the entry-level SE Luxury trim level, while the ritzier Titanium model will command $40,995. All Fusion Energis will be eligible for a federal tax credit, which will likely shave about $4,000 from the bottom line.

Still, the Energi will be significantly more expensive than the conventional Fusion Hybrid, which starts at $27,995. The two models use essentially the same powertrain, a 188-horsepower setup composed of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that teams with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission.
