USA: Virginia Tech Unveils Charging Stations at Ballston Garage

Virginia Tech has installed two charging stations for electric vehicles on the P2 level of its public garage at the Virginia Tech Research Center, 900 North Glebe Road.

The stations were awarded under the ChargePoint America Program. Installation costs were paid for by the university, which also will be responsible for maintenance.

The public will be able to charge vehicles at a cost. It takes approximately three hours to charge a half-depleted car battery, university officials said.

There are no statistics available on how many electric cars there are in Arlington, but the technology is gaining supporters nationwide, said Saifur Rahman, director of Virginia Tech’s Advanced Research Institute.
