The Mohegan Sun Conference Center

Welcome to the Mohegan Sun Conference Center!

Mohegan Sun Hotel

For the first time in the 23 year history of The SRI Conference (formerly SRI in the Rockies), we are gathering on the East Coast. Located between New York City and Boston, our 2012 venue acknowledges the importance of these financial centers to the sustainable, responsible, impact investment (SRI) industry, and gives us the opportunity to introduce the conference and the SRI industry to many East Coast investment professionals who may not yet know us.

We hope you will join us at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center October 2-4, 2012 for the 23rd annual SRI Conference!

Given our deep interest in promoting diversity and our longstanding desire to more fully showcase community development and investing, we look forward to being guests of the Mohegan Tribe at the Mohegan Sun Conference Center.

Mohegan Sun HotelMany Native American Nations are engaged in exciting and important community development work. Our conference has reflected that fact in recent years, and we continue to seek to attract and involve a wider swath of Indian Country. We believe that the broader case for community impact investing can be made and understood more deeply by the SRI industry if more people understand what Native American communities are doing with their community development efforts and initiatives.

The Mohegan Sun Conference Center is located in Uncasville, Connecticut, mid-way between New York City and Boston—convenient not only to those major metropolitan centers, but also to major concentrations of SRI/ESG oriented investors and investment professionals in the Northeast. It is also convenient for those traveling to Connecticut from other parts of the country, and other parts of the world. The Mohegan Sun Conference Center is easily accessible by Amtrak and near a number of airports (view “Transportation” here).

We are excited to be bringing the conference to New England in the autumn. The fall foliage is likely to be spectacular that first week in October!

The values and culture of the Mohegan Tribe are an especially good fit with socially conscious investors. The Mohegans are long-term thinkers—tribal decisions are made with consideration of likely impacts 13 generations into the future. The Tribe is very community oriented—tribal businesses benefit all members of the tribe. We invite you to learn more about the Mohegan Tribe and to gain a deeper understanding of their history, their struggles and their commitment to community development. Information regarding sustainability initiatives can be found here.

The Mohegan Tribe’s Council of Elders adopted the following Vision Statement in 1997:

We are the Wolf People, children of Mundo, a part of the Tree of Life. Our ancestors form our roots, our living Tribe is the trunk, our grandchildren are the buds of our future.

We remember and teach the stories of our ancestors.

We watch. We listen. We learn.

We respect Mother Earth, our Elders, and all that comes from Mundo.

We are willing to break arrows of peace to heal old and new wounds. We acknowledge and learn from our mistakes.

We walk as a single spirit on the Trail of Life. We are guided by thirteen generations past and responsible to thirteen generations to come.

We survive as a nation guided by the wisdom of our past. Our circular trail returns us to wholeness as a people.

Ni Ya Yo.

We hope you are among the 650+ investors, investment professionals, and representatives of organizations working to direct the flow of investment capital in ways that enhance the common good who will gather in southeastern Connecticut in early October. We have a few surprises planned for you!
