Nissan Leaf to Receive US Facelift and Budget Version to Counter Poor Sales

The Nissan Leaf is a well-engineered and good car, and people generally like it. However, it has been set back alot by the warm weather battery issue which has been plaguing some of its US customers.

Sales this year are down quite dramatically, when compared to 2011, when they managed to shift some 7,199 units until September. This year they only achieved a sales figure of 5,212 in the same time frame.

They need to come up with something to boost the Leaf’s appeal, to at least try to reach the projected 20,000 units they were hoping to sell in its first year. And so, they will be updating the car for 2013, by giving it a facelift, as well as a low-cost version, which we say may be the biggest seller.
