Advanced Energy Releases Detailed Residential Charging Station Handbook To Help Multi-Family Dwelling Residents and Property Owners “Get Ready” for Plug-In Electric Vehicles

RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 16, 2011 — /PRNewswire/ — Advanced Energy, a nonprofit committed to helping communities understand, plan-for and implement electric transportation initiatives, today released Version 1.0 of the Residential Charging Station Installation Handbook for Single- and Multi-Family Homeowners and Renters. This new handbook will provide homeowners, renters, property managers, property owners, city/community planners, contractors and electricians with best practices to address the unique challenges of charging station selection, installation and operation at single-family residential and multi-family dwellings.

“Consumers are already purchasing PEVs such as the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt,” says Jeff Barghout, division director, Transportation, Advanced Energy. “With their purchase, they will be expecting their workplaces, homes, communities and retail outlets to be equipped with the necessary electric vehicle supply equipment – better known as charging stations – and the supporting infrastructure to operate their vehicles. We developed this guide based on our experience over the past 10 years collaborating with stakeholders across the U.S. on PEV initiatives.”

Advanced Energy also released the following guides to help drive the future of electric transportation:

Charging Station Installation Handbook for Electrical Contractors
Community Planning Guide for Plug-in Electric Vehicles; and
How to Drive Electric and Other FAQs on Electric Vehicles.
