USA: Charging station kiosks to deploy in Kansas City

A Kansas City-based startup plans to join the fight against dead cellphone batteries with inCharge kiosks, where free mobile phone charging in public places will allow users to power-up while on the go.

The company, founded by Bryan Richard, plans to launch three kiosks at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City on Friday, and another to deploy in the city’s Power and Light District, according to an article on

The inCharge kiosk, as per the prototype, is 8 feet tall and 30 inches wide, with the capability of charging on three or four sides. On a charging side of the station, there are four circular discs that rotate to different phone adapters. The stations will initially support iPhone, micro and USB chargers, as well as a few others specifically for India, where a kiosk will deploy in November, according to the article.
